Excellence Is a Habit collects nothing. There is no account to create, no server to send anything to, and no analytics, telemetry or crash reporting in the app. It has no third-party dependencies at all, so no other company receives anything about you either.
Where your data lives
All of your data is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, your data also syncs through your own private iCloud database, which Apple provides and only you can read. Your settings sync the same way. The developer of this app has no access to any of it and no way to obtain it.
The one network request
The app makes exactly one kind of outbound request, and only when you
ask for it. When you paste a list of links using Bulk Add Links, it
fetches each page so it can read the title and name the habit after it.
Those requests go to the sites you pasted and nowhere else; only
http and https addresses are fetched, each with
a ten second timeout and a size cap. If you never use that feature, the app
never uses the network.
Permissions
The app asks for a permission at the moment you turn on the feature that needs it, never at launch, and it works without any of them.
- Calendar — only if you turn on calendar integration. The app then keeps a calendar named Excellence and writes an all-day event for today and for upcoming days. Those events contain a title, a date, a count and a link back into the app. If you also choose to show today's events inside the app, they are read on your device and displayed there.
- Notifications — only if you turn on start alerts or the count on the app icon. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Nothing is sent through a push server.
Getting your data out, and deleting it
Export produces a zip of two CSV files: every completion and every note. On the Mac, the app also keeps a full JSON snapshot of your data in its own container for scripts to read. Deleting a habit deletes its completions and notes with it, and deleting the app removes its local data; data in your iCloud account is managed by you, in Apple's iCloud settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a future version of the app ever collects anything, that will be said here first and plainly.
